Kerrie Hanna x National Trust x YeHa Youth Project 2024
Above is a co-designed stained glass panel, painted by young people from the YeHa project.
This project connected inner city teenagers with Divis and Black Mountain for the first time. We went on a foraging walk on Divis Mountain, created visual studies of the flora and fauna, taking time to explore the rich variety of life there. From there, we worked together to collage a range of different designs from participants. The finali design is curated in a way to echo the route we took on our foraging walk.
Once the design was complete, it was time to get stuck in to learning some stained glass painting techniques. The young people completed the stained glass painting alongside Kerrie. National Trust now have the panel on permanent display at the visitor centre at Divis and Black Mountain.
